Founded in 2024 by Robin Rombach, Andreas Blattmann, Patrick Esser, and Dominik Lorenz, Black Forest Labs brings serious technical heritage. The co-founders helped pioneer latent diffusion at Heidelberg and LMU Munich before contributing to Stability AI’s Stable Diffusion.
