The new Apple M5 chip boosts speed, graphics, and AI performance across iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and Vision Pro — available for preorder now.

Apple has officially unveiled its powerful new M5 chip, alongside refreshed versions of the iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and Vision Pro. The announcement marks a major performance leap for Apple’s flagship devices — all of which are available for preorder starting today, with shipping and in-store availability set for October 22.

A Big Leap with the Apple M5 Chip

The M5 chip delivers a massive boost in speed, graphics, and AI performance compared to the previous generation. Apple claims the M5 offers over four times the peak GPU compute performance of the M4 chip.

According to Johny Srouji, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Technologies, the M5 “ushers in the next big leap in AI performance for Apple silicon.”

For the new iPad Pro, that leap means up to 3.5x better AI performance than last year’s model — and up to 5.6x faster than the version powered by the M1 chip.

iPad Pro: Faster, Smarter, and More Like a Laptop

Apple is clearly positioning the new iPad Pro as a serious productivity device. Beyond the M5 chip, it now includes Apple’s C1X cellular modem, offering up to 50% faster cellular data, and the N1 chip for improved Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Thread connectivity.

Storage speeds are faster, and users can now charge up to 50% in just 30 minutes. With iPadOS 26, Apple is also making the experience more desktop-like, introducing windowed multitasking, a Preview app, and folder creation tools for easier organization.

Prices start at $999 for the 11-inch model and $1,299 for the 13-inch, available in black and silver.

MacBook Pro: More Power, Same Portability

The new 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 chip delivers up to 1.6x faster graphics performance, 153Gbps memory bandwidth (up from 120Gbps), and improved storage speeds for faster file access.

Battery life now stretches to an impressive 24 hours, maintaining Apple’s lead in laptop endurance. The M5 chip also improves display rendering by 10%, supports refresh rates up to 120Hz, and speeds up AI-powered tasks by 50%.

Starting at $1,599, the MacBook Pro comes in space black and silver.

Vision Pro: Enhanced Comfort and Performance

Apple’s Vision Pro also joins the M5 upgrade lineup. The device keeps its $3,499 price but adds a redesigned Dual Knit Band for a more comfortable fit, available in small, medium, and large sizes.

Apple’s decision to refresh the Vision Pro comes amid reports that the company is shifting focus toward developing smart glasses, signaling a long-term evolution of its spatial computing ambitions.

With the M5 chip, Apple is setting a new benchmark for performance and efficiency across its top-tier devices — bringing AI acceleration, faster graphics, and longer battery life to the core of its ecosystem.
